"AGC has been more than a recreational soccer club for me. To me AGC women’s soccer started as going to a few practices here and there, and I wasn’t very excited because - to be honest - every time I played a women’s soccer game, it would always become very conflictive. At regular women soccer game it seemed to me that some girls didn’t know to accept the fact that the nature of the sport is that it’s a contact sport, and they would take any hits personally. I was afraid of experiencing the same thing with AGC women’s team, but I was completely wrong. At AGC I started going to practice and started to see such a supportive group of girls. It all started because of the passion the Captain Val and the Coach Manu devoted to the team, because without their commitment and dedication, this club would not be what it is today. They selflessly give up their own personal time to organize practices, games, keep track of the club’s finances, find leagues for us to participate in, train themselves to become better at what they do, bring to the girls all the helpful things they learn, and create a team so united to the point that the players themselves feel proud of the group they are representing. Not only does the club represent a great example of how women are helping each other, but the club is also taking steps to make an impact at a greater level. I love how we randomly support little things that go a long way like, bringing a water cooler to practice and refill our water bottles instead of buying plastic water bottles, supporting breast cancer awareness by deciding to wear pink to practice, creating friendly competition while encouraging self appreciation and wearing jerseys from our respective countries, supporting initiatives that team members are participating in, supporting team members themselves while they are going through a tough time, and the list goes on. AGC has become more than a soccer club to me, it has now become a group of friends. Friends that bring a smile to your face and joke around but also friends that share constructive criticism and help you improve. It has become a place where I have met people from all walks of life yet can still relate to and share experiences with. Its a group of friends that enjoys hanging out together to have lunch after practice, or dinner after a game. To be honest, once again, I didn’t think I would be so extensive when describing the club, but there are just so many positive and rewarding experiences that come to mind when thinking about the club! And this is coming from someone who has been injured for a great portion of the time since the club started, and although I’ve tried to attend practices and games even if its just to watch, I can not begin to imagine what a greater impact it will have on me since once I am healed and able to be involved at a greater extent! Go AGC! "
"AGC es exactamente lo que sus iniciales significan “A great club”. Es un excelente lugar para jugar y aprender futbol. Consta con un excelente equipo técnico el cual no sólo se preocupa por que aprendas a jugar si no también se preocupa por tu bienestar, alientan al equipo a siempre ser los mejores y a dar lo mejor de uno! Estoy muy agradecida de formar parte de este equipo que no sólo es eso si no también es una familia."
"Since joining AGC women's competitive soccer club. I have not only improved my skills and feel confident that I will continue to do so as the time goes by but I feel part of something bigger. Our team feels like an extended family. Our captain and our coach are very involved with the team and plan ahead to make the team better each practice as well as games and make adjustments as they deem necessary. They both have vast experience and provide us with the necessary guidance to take the team to the next level."
"AGC is soccer, fitness, perseverance, determination, camaraderie, stress-management, clearing up your head, and forming bonds with great professional women. I have been at AGC for a couple of years now, at least. All those descriptive words for AGC I have personally experienced through the years. Here, I managed to find a group of women at a similar stage, trying to maintain a work-life balance pursuing a sport that they have a passion for. AGC organizes excellent practices, pushes us to be better at soccer and as a team, and gives us opportunities to compete. AGC provides a level of organization and cadence that ensures continuous engagement on a bi-weekly basis with full participation. Also, AGC is not only about soccer. It is about camaraderie and social connections that are coming with good sports clubs. AGC is a platform to connect with new people, make friends, and even make professional connections. Through post-workout social events and post-match dinners, AGC allows us to develop stronger bonds with our teammates and long-lasting relationships. Finally, AGC is a place to disconnect from the day to day of hectic professional and personal commitments. AGC, through soccer, allows people like me to relieve stress, focus on something we genuinely enjoy, with the added value of improving our health and fitness. I look forward to every practice, match, and social event. AGC plays a key role in my life, and I look forward to its continuous growth and be able to be part of it any way I can."
"The last time I played soccer, I might have been 15 years old, maybe less. However, I always loved the idea to be part of a women’s team. A little over two months ago, I was presented with the opportunity to join AGC soccer club for its practices and games. Since I was not skilled, and I did not know anyone that attended, I was embarrassed to go and be mocked by other players. I could not have been more mistaken: the human group in the team is amazing. First off, the Coach, Manuel, and the team Captain, Valentina are completely invested in the well-being of the players as well as on their athletic development. They are always analyzing our individual performance giving us personal instructions to be better players. They have never made me feel that I was not enough and they constantly encourage me to become better each practice. Second of all, the girls composing the team are warm and always worried about helping each other. Even though there are a lot of seasoned players, I have never received a bad look or felt that I wasn’t part of the team because of my performance. Every player is always helping the others with tips to be a more complete and consistent player. By joining the team, not only am I becoming better at playing the sport, but I also encountered a beautiful group of friends that not only support me athletically but also emotionally."
